About:
A Dark Day's Knight is an original musical by Phil Betts with lyrics by Nib Brattoni.
A Dark Day’s Knight is a romantic drama set in a galaxy far far away. Part murder-mystery, part coming-of-age, part Greek tragedy, the songs are a fusion of original lyrics to the tune of contemporary indie-pop hits and will be performed by a live band with traverse theatre staging.
The show is the first combined production by MacMS and DRAMAC, and promises to be the biggest production ever staged at the Lighthouse!
From AD:
After a long run of 3 weeks (I think MacMS’s longest ever run) Dark Days Knight is over.
The last week was the most successful in terms of profit and audiences, on one night we had to turn people away, let others sit on staircases,
and then squished some more chairs in for the other nights.
The show really pushed a lot of people to work hard and create an amazing piece of theatre. Congratulations to the production team and the cast.
You all worked really hard and hopefully had fun in the process.
As numbers are still being finalised, I cant announce the official takings and profit of the show (tba soon), but I’m sure that we did make money.
To those who doubted either my choice to put on this show or the ability of the cast and production team, I think that our funds are still in the green is a good symbol of this being a great and successful production. To those still stoking the fire, there’s no wood left.
Although, I believe MacMS and DRAMAC have a lot to learn from each other, and gain from working co-operatively, those who feel MacMS is becoming DRAMAC need to stop worrying. This was a one off show. It was a one off in that it: had a huge budget for a MacMS O-week show, had a longer run than ever before and that it was co-produced by MacMS and DRAMAC. Although this production was very successful and a great show for both societies, we will not be seeing the likes of it again for this year.
Wow... another Joshy Rant... So... Thankyou to everyone who was involved in the show (including those who were dragged into painting the set, even though you had nothing to do with the show) and a special thank you to the cast, who really gave everything they had to make such a great production.
I hope to see you all again soon,
thankyou all,
Joshy (AD)
